Use this procedure to add Transitive to ChatGPT on the web. ChatGPT calls a connection to a custom MCP server a plugin. After you add it, you can use it in ChatGPT on other devices.

Before you start

  • The Transitive team must enable the service for your organization. Refer to Use an AI assistant.
  • You need the server URL: https://mcp.transitive.app/mcp.
  • On a Business plan, only a workspace admin or owner can add a custom MCP server. On an Enterprise or Edu plan, an admin must give you the permission Create plugins with MCPs in Workspace settings > Permissions & roles.
  • Menu names can change. If you do not find an item, look for the closest name.

Add the server

1

Open Plugins

2

Add a custom MCP server

Select the plus button, then select Add custom MCP server.
3

Enter the details

Enter Transitive as the name. Optionally, add the description “Documents, statuses and timelines from Transitive.” Under Connection, enter https://mcp.transitive.app/mcp as the Server URL.
4

Set the authentication

Select OAuth.
5

Accept the risk warning

Read the warning. Select I understand and want to continue.
6

Create the plugin

Select Create as a plugin.
7

Install and connect

Find the plugin in your personal plugins. Install it and select Connect. ChatGPT opens the Transitive sign-in page. Sign in, select your organization, and select Allow.

Use the plugin

1

Start a chat

Open a new chat in ChatGPT on the web.
2

Select Transitive

In the prompt box, type @ and select Transitive.
3

Ask a question

Ask, for example, “List my latest invoices.” Say that you want to use Transitive only.

Approve actions

ChatGPT asks you to confirm each action that changes data. Open the details of the request and read the input before you approve. You can choose to remember your answer for the rest of the conversation. Do this only for tools that you trust.

Manage or remove the plugin

Open the details page of the plugin to turn tools on or off and to refresh its tools. To remove it, delete the plugin from your personal plugins. If ChatGPT shows an error, refer to Fix connection problems.
