A credit note gets a credit CFDI (type E). This is the default for all companies. A company can turn on invoice cancellation for credit notes. Then a credit note with the same value as its invoice does not get a CFDI. Transitive cancels the invoice with motive 02 instead. A credit note with a different value gets a credit CFDI. Invoice cancellation for credit notes is off by default. Transitive turns it on for the company.

What occurs when invoice cancellation is on

1

The credit note asks to cancel the invoice

The credit note shows Not stamped: invoice cancellation requested. Its timeline shows the request. The credit note does not change after this step.
2

The invoice starts the cancellation

The invoice shows Waiting for response. Its timeline shows that the credit note asked for the cancellation, with motive 02.
3

The SAT gives the result

The invoice shows Cancelled or Cancellation didn’t go through. The timeline of the credit note also shows the result.
If the cancellation of the invoice does not occur, stamp the credit note with Auto or By hand.

Other results

The credit note only starts the cancellation of the invoice. After the request, the credit note always shows Not stamped: invoice cancellation requested. The result of the cancellation shows on the invoice, and on the timeline of the credit note. The invoice is not cancelled in these conditions:
  • CargoWise did not send the invoice, or the invoice has no CFDI.
  • A different system stamped the invoice. Transitive never cancels a CFDI that it did not stamp.
  • The invoice has two valid CFDIs. Refer to Two valid CFDIs.
  • The SAT or the receiver did not accept the cancellation.
Then, stamp the credit note with Auto or By hand.

While the invoice is busy

The invoice can have a cancellation open or a stamp in progress. Then Transitive sends the request again when the invoice is available. The credit note shows Not stamped: invoice cancellation requested during this time.
