# Replace a CFDI

> Cancel a CFDI with motive 01 and stamp a replacement.

Replace a CFDI when it has errors and the operation stays valid. Transitive stamps the replacement first. Then it cancels the original CFDI with motive 01 and the UUID of the replacement.

## Replace a CFDI

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the document">
    Open the document. Correct the data in CargoWise first if necessary, and send the document
    again.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select Cancel">Select **Cancel** and select motive **01**.</Step>

  <Step title="Select the replacement">
    Select **Auto** or **By hand** to stamp a new replacement. Or select a newer version that is
    valid.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read the status">
    The status stays **Stamped** during the replacement. The activity shows each step.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What occurs

1. Transitive stamps the replacement as a new version. The original CFDI stays valid during this step.
2. When the replacement is valid, the status shows the replacement.
3. Transitive cancels the original CFDI. The cancellation refers to the UUID of the replacement.
4. When the SAT cancels the original, the status is **Stamped** for the replacement.

## Problems

| Status | Cause | What to do |
| - | - | - |
| **Replacement not stamped** | Transitive did not stamp the replacement. | Stamp the replacement again with **Auto** or **By hand**. |
| **Previous version still valid** | The cancellation of the original did not complete. | Cancel the original again with motive 01 and the same replacement. |
| **Cancellation didn't go through** | The replacement was cancelled before the original's request. | Cancel the original again with a new replacement, or with motive 02 or 03. |

If the result of the replacement stamp is unknown, you cannot stamp again. Wait until Transitive knows the result.

## More replacements

You can replace a replacement. Each replacement is a new version. Refer to [Versions and attempts](/concepts/versions-and-attempts).
